Singer/songwriter Makenna Rose began training with “Ms. Jennifer” at the age of 10 because she wanted to audition for America’s Got Talent. Having no musicians in the family, her mom brought her to Ms. Hix who has now been her vocal coach and piano teacher for 7 years. Ms. Hix also guided her on music theory and the documentation of her songs.
At age 12, Makenna was a finalist at the 2016 Swallow Hill Music Young Songwriter’s Contest. The following year, in 2017, she took 2nd place at the same contest and won a scholarship to the University of Colorado at Denver’s Songwriter Summer Camp. In 2018, at the age of 14, she made her professional debut, representing Girls Rock Denver. In 2019, Makenna attended the Berklee College of Music Songwriting Summer Camp and was awarded The Dean’s Award for her contributions to the camp.
Makenna now attends Belmont University’s “The Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business” where she is a songwriting major. She continues to work with Ms. Hix remotely.
